Our Journey

In the Beginning

Every person is on a journey… so is every church!

In June 2000, Gil Dukeman and his family relocated from Columbus to Beavercreek to accept the pastorate of a recently formed congregation. Gil came with a passion to see people equipped and mobilized to live out their faith in their circle of influence.

Growing Pains

Under Gil’s visionary leadership, the church was challenged to establish some basic core values (guiding philosophies). These included, among other things, a commitment to:

  • experience God’s love in the context of relationships, both within the church and community
  • creatively worship God, individually and collectively
  • teach the Bible in relevant and accessible language
  • passionately serve God by serving those around us

By 2003, following months of prayerful conversation and visioneering, the leadership took a bold step and decided it time to re-plant the church in the community. With the support of the membership, the current church facilities were sold and the journey of transformation began. The name “Grace Crossing Church” was chosen to reflect our desire to become a more missionally-focused church committed to serving the unchurched, dechurched, and spiritually disenfranchised in our community.

Church without Walls

In January 2006, God opened a remarkable door as we were granted permission to hold worship services on the campus of Wright State University (Student Union Bldg). Within a year, we were fortunate enough to purchase twelve acres of land in an optimum location in the residential heart of Beavercreek. In 2009, we constructed a 10,200 square foot building at 1553 Beaver Valley Road in Beavercreek, which serves today as our ministry center.
