One Church…Two Times

Date: September 18, 2011

Time: 1:34 pm

Today, we made an anticipated announcement: One Church…Two Times. Beginning October 16, we will be offering two service times on Sunday morning. Our staff has felt from the start that it would be best to go to multiple services only when the metrics required us to do so. We are there!

Over the summer months (typically “flat” for church attendance), we have experienced steady, healthy growth evidenced by:

  • Auditorium – our median attendance for the summer (June – August) has been 182 with a low of 161 (Independence Day weekend) and high of 222. For this past 4 weeks alone (including the Labor Day weekend), our median attendance has been 210 and last weekend was a record attendance (for a non-holiday/special service) with 224! Add to that our children and volunteers and we’re pushing the 300 mark weekly!
  • Ignite Children’s – rooms are completely maxed out and have been for some time. Our children’s leaders are prepared to staff a second service and eventually a fourth room to accommodate the growth in our children’s ministry.
  • Parking Lot – we are using every parking spot nearly every week, and people are double parking (again) on our high weeks!
  • An intangible – there is a “holy buzz” here at GCC. No doubt about it, God is providing the momentum; we are now expected to sustain and steward it!

Bottom line is this: we have hit a ceiling on our impact (growth) potential and must “lift the lid” to make room to resource more aspiring Christ followers in our community. Our most fruitful season of ministry is about to begin.

We covet your prayers and support as we hoist the sails to begin this new journey together, praying for the wind of God’s Spirit to steer our course ahead!
