Our values
Biblical Worldview
“Where life and faith intersect”…that’s what we are all about here at GCC. We want to be an extension of Christ’s compassion while holding firmly to the Bible as our divine source of faith and conduct. Jesus is both the focus of the Bible and senior leader of the Church. As such, our highest priority is to fulfill the mandates Jesus issued – The Great Commandment (Mark 12:30-31) and The Great Commission (Matthew 28:18-20). (See “Our Beliefs.”)
Spiritual Maturity
We exist to resource those aspiring to follow Jesus. According to the New Testament, spiritual maturity will be evidenced by four metrics: growing intentionally, serving unselfishly, giving generously, and living humbly (Ephesians 4:12-16; 2 Peter 1:3-11).
Emotionally Healthy Relationships
We welcome everyone to come as they are, but grow. Becoming part of God’s family means we are neither independent nor codependent, but interdependent (1 Corinthians 12:12-27). We encourage imperfect people to build authentic relationships that are emotionally honest and filled with both “grace and truth” (John 1:14). (see Connection Groups)
Generous Involvement
We are a generous church, which simply means we encourage every person to be “all in” and to do their fair share of the lifting. As growth occurs, we believe there will be an increased desire to faithfully serve. This means both being engaged in the ministry of the church as well as being committed to giving back of your time, talents, and treasures to see God’s kingdom advance (Romans 12:11; Ephesians 6:7-8). Humble Dependence
We believe in humble dependence on God. (James 4:16). "God is opposed to the proud, but gives grace to the humble" (James 4:6). We strive to grow stronger as a praying church that is dependent upon God in all we do.
